Black Sand substrates give your aquarium life the backdrop to POP. Plants and Fish alike tend to show more vibrant color when in contrast to a dark substrate. This sand also pulls double duty by creating an extreme amount of surface area for benefitial bacteria to live and thrive, leading to higher water quality and fish health.
Instructions for Substrate Placement:
1: Size your Aquarium
1inch in depth ~ 1lb per gallon depending on length of the tank
2inch in depth ~ 2lb-2.5lb per gallon
3inch in depth ~ 3lbs+ per gallon depending on dimensions
2: Rinse your Sand before placement
Place sand in a bucket or container and rinse with water. After a few dumps let the sand sit for a while to allow any light particles or debris to float to the surface.
