Lenci Prosperity Baby “Gioia” 1930s in excellent condition considering is an Antique.  Please see photos for details, there are mild crazing on the forehead and some little pieces missing from the body that gets mostly cover with the baby cloth.  Original clothing, Gioia is 16” tall.
Madame Lenci invented this process, her dolls were made all in fabric and used some kind of glue to harden them,
also used lots of paint and a special top coating to make them easy to wipe. They are hollow making them very light.
Most of the people thought that they were washable dolls since they advertised or looked that way, but they weren’t supposed to get wet but rather be wipe with a damp cloth.
Madame Lenci was ahead of her time, she was thinking to make them durable and washable, she was dreaming with something like Plastic!
